Delete photos only when iOS asks you to confirm
Rollmark never deletes a photo by itself. Swipes build a let-go list, you review it, and only then does the app ask iOS to move the photos to Recently Deleted. iOS shows its own confirmation, and the photos stay recoverable for 30 days.

What happens between a swipe and a delete?
- You swipe left. The photo joins the let-go list on your iPhone.
- You open the review list: three-column tiles with an estimated size on each.
- You tap any tile to keep that photo instead, or choose Keep all.
- You press Move to Recently Deleted.
- iOS shows its own dialog. If you confirm, the photos move. If you cancel, the list stays as it was.
What does the review screen show?
The title reads "Let go of N photos?" with an estimated size. Photos appear as three-column tiles with a size pill and a red X. Tapping a tile flips it to kept: it dims, shows a green check and a "Kept" pill. Keep all sits at the top right. A short blue note repeats the facts: iOS will ask you to confirm, photos wait 30 days in Recently Deleted, and space is freed after that.
What does Recently Deleted do?
Photos moved there wait for 30 days and can be recovered in the Photos app. Rollmark never empties that album. Space comes back once the items leave it, which iOS does after 30 days, or sooner if you empty it yourself in Photos under Utilities. The in-app "Free the space now" screen lists these steps. A longer explanation is in Recently Deleted on iPhone.
Is my let-go list lost if I quit the app?
No. The list is saved on your iPhone by photo id and stays until you confirm or change it. If your library changes while Rollmark is open, the app reloads and your decisions still match the right photos.
Who is this flow for?
It suits people who have been burned by an accidental delete or who distrust tools that promise big numbers. The extra step costs a few seconds and buys a second look at everything you chose.
What should I check before pressing Move?
- Scan the tiles for a photo you do not recognize as a let-go choice.
- Look at the estimated size. A very large number on a short session can mean a pile of videos.
- Confirm the date range if you are reviewing all months at once, where tiles are grouped by month.
- Check that you have a copy of anything irreplaceable.
How does it compare with deleting in Photos?
In Photos, you select and delete in one pass, and the photos go to Recently Deleted immediately. Rollmark separates choosing from deleting. You can spend three sessions swiping and still confirm once, and nothing changes in your library until that confirmation. The end state is identical: the same album with the same 30 days.
What can Rollmark not do about deleted photos?
It cannot empty Recently Deleted and it cannot recover a photo for you. Both happen in the Photos app. There is no button that jumps to the album, because iOS offers no public way to open Photos at that screen. The Free the space now screen lists the steps instead.
What if the iOS dialog does not appear?
Rollmark treats a missing or cancelled dialog as "nothing deleted". The app tells you so and keeps your list. If iOS reports an error, the message says nothing was deleted.
Why does Rollmark work this way?
Some cleanup tools lean on scare tactics, such as storage alarms and copy that treats a library as junk. Rollmark follows four rules instead: one delete call reachable from one button, iOS confirms every time, wording that never says "permanently", and no alarmist language anywhere.
The rules also protect you in practice. A tap on the wrong card in a deck is a mistake you can undo. A delete you did not intend is not.
Which permissions does it use to do this?
Photos read and write access, so it can show the library and ask iOS to move items. Add-only access when you save a share card. Notifications only if you switch on the daily reminder. There is no camera, microphone or location access. The privacy policy lists all of it.
How does the wording avoid scaring me?
Copy says "Move to Recently Deleted" and never "permanently delete". Sizes read "about", because they are estimates from image size and video length. The app shows no storage-critical warnings, no junk counters and no countdowns.
What about iCloud Photos?
A delete in the Photos library follows your iCloud Photos settings. With iCloud Photos on, a photo moved to Recently Deleted on one device is removed on your other devices too. The guide to deleting on iPhone while keeping iCloud copies explains the options.
Frequently asked questions
Can Rollmark delete photos without asking?
No. The only delete call in the app runs after you press the Move button on the review screen, and iOS shows its own confirmation before anything changes.
How do I get photos back?
Open the Photos app, go to Recently Deleted under Utilities, select the photos and choose Recover. This works for 30 days.
Does Rollmark free storage immediately?
Only after the photos leave Recently Deleted. The app says so on the recap and on the Free the space now screen.
What does Erase Rollmark data delete?
It clears the app's own decisions, marks, streak and let-go list. It never touches your photos.
