Swipe to keep, let go, or mark

The Rollmark deck shows one photo at a time. Swipe right to keep it, left to let it go, up to mark it as the best of the month. Round buttons under the card do the same, and undo reverses up to 50 steps. No swipe deletes anything.

What do the three swipes mean?

A drag past 110 points, or a quick fling, commits the swipe. A shorter drag springs back. The card tilts up to 8 degrees as you drag.

  • Right: keep. A green KEEP stamp fades in and the photo goes to the kept list.
  • Left: let go. A red LET GO stamp appears and the photo joins the let-go list.
  • Up: mark. A gold MARK stamp appears, and the photo becomes the month's mark.

Can I use buttons instead of gestures?

Yes. Under the card sit three round buttons: let go in red, mark in gold, keep in green. They run the same animation as the gesture. Every control has an accessibility label and a target of at least 44 points, and the deck card announces its kind and date.

How is the stack built?

The top card has a 28-point corner radius and a soft shadow. The next card sits behind it at 94 percent scale and rises as you drag, and the third at 88 percent. When you let go past the threshold, the card flies off in about a quarter of a second. Under the threshold it springs back.

Dynamic Type is supported and capped at 1.2 to 1.4 times on fixed layouts, so text on the card stays inside its frame.

What does the card tell me?

Each card carries a date pill and a kind badge (video length, Screenshot or Live). Photos taken on the same date in earlier years get an "On this day" ribbon. Cards in the Seconds apart pile say so, and every card shows an estimated size.

How does undo work?

The undo button in the top bar steps back through the last 50 decisions, including a mark. It is disabled when there is nothing to undo. Since swipes only touch lists on your phone, undo costs nothing and never needs the Photos app.

How fast can a session go?

The deck is built so each decision takes a swipe and nothing else. There is no confirmation per photo, no sheet that interrupts the flow, and no edit tools to distract you. The only interruptions are the first-time how-to sheet and, on the free plan, the daily limit sheet.

If a photo is unclear, keep it. You can always return to a sorted month from the Months tab and open its recap.

Who is the deck for?

It suits people with a large backlog who want each decision to take a couple of seconds. One thumb is enough, so a session fits a commute or a queue. It suits you less if you want to edit photos while you sort, because the deck has no edit tools.

How does it compare with deleting inside Photos?

In Photos you open a picture and tap the trash, or tap Select and mark a group, and each delete goes to Recently Deleted at once. In the deck, a left swipe only adds the photo to a list on your iPhone. Nothing leaves your library until you review the list and confirm in the iOS dialog, so a mistaken swipe costs one undo, not a recovery trip.

What does a good first session look like?

  1. Open the Months tab and start with the current month.
  2. Read the how-to sheet and tap Got it.
  3. Swipe or tap the green and red buttons, and use the up swipe once for the photo that sums up the month.
  4. Stop when your time box ends. The Continue card remembers your place.
  5. Open the let-go list, flip any doubtful tile back to kept, then confirm.

What can the deck not do?

It does not find duplicates, judge sharpness or choose for you. Sizes on the cards are estimates from pixel dimensions and video length, shown as "about". Undo reaches back 50 decisions, and a photo you let go earlier can still be flipped to kept in the review list until you confirm.

How do I check my let-go list from the deck?

A blue Review let-go list button sits under the buttons, with a grey caption such as "12 photos, about 40 MB". With nothing queued, the caption reads "Swipe left to let go" and the button is disabled. Pressing it opens the review screen described on the safe delete page.

What are haptics for?

A light tap confirms a keep, a medium tap confirms a let go, and a success pattern confirms a mark. You can turn haptics off in Settings.

Is there a daily limit?

The free plan allows 150 swipe decisions a day. When you pass it, a sheet explains that the count refills at midnight, that your decisions are saved, and that Pro removes the limit. It also offers to review your let-go list or call it a day. There is no cooldown timer.

Frequently asked questions

Do swipes delete photos?

No. Swipes sort photos into lists stored on your iPhone. A photo only moves to Recently Deleted after you confirm the let-go list and approve the iOS dialog.

Can I change my mind after swiping left?

Yes. Use undo right away, or open the review list later and tap any photo to keep it instead.

Does the deck work with videos?

Yes. Videos appear as cards with their length. The Large videos pile, a Pro feature, collects videos estimated at 50 MB or more.

What happens at 150 swipes?

The free count for the day is used up. Your decisions stay saved and it refills at local midnight.
